Bebinca - "The Queen of Goan Sweets !"

Bebinca - "The Queen of Goan Sweets !"

Bebinca
"Sweet -/- Dessert": Hearing these words the mouth starts to entreat for the sweet dish, you get an instant dessert yearning, don't you!
Umm...Let's spare the people with diabetes, but hey; they do have an active option welcoming their way; thanks to the low-calorie sweetener Sugar-Free, and others in the active and researching market out there.

Origin:
Bebinca is also known as Bibik or as Bebinka
It's a kind of a pudding; traditional Indo-Portuguese dessert. It's also a traditional sweet in Goa during Christmas. Bebinca prepared traditionally has 7 layers. But it can go up to 15-16! layers too (they say :))

Tasted at:
Workplace, thanks to a dear Goan friend of mine, who took the troubles to bring in the Queen of Goan Sweets-Bebinca to many of us here in Bangalore. Surprise !!

Ingredients:
It basically includes- all-purpose flour (maida), Egg yolk, coconut milk, sugar, Ghee (clarified butter) & a tiny hint of Nutmeg (Jaiphal)

Making Bebinca: It's a tiresome process of baking one single layer at a time, that could take up to 4-5 hours in kitchen, making the person cooking it; exhausted out

Taste:
Soft and smooth texture, sweetend to a mild state, can actually see and differentiate between the baked layers

Cool to check out:

Bebinca can be eaten as an option with Ice-cream of your choice

Similar desserts from Goa, Doldol (A Coconut And Rice Flour Based Halwa) alike to Indian Halwa
